Tea Time

Photo of me and my friend. I am pouring some make believe tea into her cup. Behind us is a botanical decorated wall with a neon sign that reads "High Societea" in script letters.

It has been a hectic week. There was some wind that caused a small amount of damage necessitating some unexpected home repairs, and that project turned into a slightly bigger project in the interest of killing two birds with one stone. (I can assure you, there were no birds harmed in any of our home projects! That said, at one point during the middle of all this one did fly into the shed, which he had apparently mistaken for a public restroom.) Then there were some not so fun medical appointments and procedures.

So, having a chance on Saturday to have a special day with an old friend was especially nice. (I just read back that sentence, and need to clarify that we have been friends for a long time, and not she is old. In fact, I have three and a half years on her!) That said, our Saturday outing was to celebrate Lauren’s birthday. She took me to a tea house that’s one of her favorite places, and we had a perfect afternoon filled with delicious tea and food. (Despite what the possibly staged photo above might suggest, the tea was not actually invisible!)

With Alice in Wonderland quotes on the wall, lots and lots of tea and the perfect selection of vegetarian treats, I was definitely in my glory. Mostly, though, I was thankful for the chance to spend time with a good friend, and for a day that did not require any emergency trips to Home Depot or a single ladder. So, thanks, Lauren, for planning the perfect Saturday afternoon.

As for hectic stuff? It doesn’t show any signs of letting up in the near future. So, here’s hoping at least for a moment or two of calm along the way. As my family likes to say, “The adventure continues . . .”
