What have I been doing this past week? Mostly eating cake. For my birthday Ron baked and decorated me a delicious Funfetti birthday cake. This photo above doesn’t do it justice, and the colors are a little off. That orange lettering was definitely more of a coral-tinged pink in real life. We also enjoyed a nice dinner with his parents. I tried not to be too much of a party pooper, but I was still struggling with my sinus infection, and had to hit the sack pretty early that night.
My sister suggested I celebrate my 50th all year, and I like that idea. I definitely got a jump start on that this past week.
By Friday I was definitely feeling a lot better, and well enough to make the not-so-long trip to a friend’s house for, you guessed it, more cake! It was another delicious home-baked one. (Thank you, Lauren and Chris!)

The weekend brought another gift of sorts. Sunday morning we woke up to our first snow accumulation of the year. The official count was 5.5 inches of the white stuff in our neck of the woods.

After a little bit of shoveling, it was time to dig the skis out of storage and take a few tours around the backyard. Sunday the snow was a bit on the clumpy side, but I’m happy to report that things dried out some overnight and Monday morning’s skiing was actually pretty decent.

I hope that you are finding little or big ways to celebrate, with or without cake. In light of the festive and hectic season, I’ll be taking next week off so I wish all who celebrate a safe, healthy and merry Christmas!
