We Have New Neighbors (At Last)

Photo of a pink painted birdhouse with flower illustrations on a shelf in a store.

Something that we were starting to think might never happen finally did. Our new next door neighbors (aka Ron’s parents) finally moved in.

To recap, last year we were told the house renovation project next door would be done by the end of August. Last August. Then we decided it would definitely be done by the end of the year. That’s 2024, if you’re keeping score. I think at some point we revised it to the spring. I don’t know, I’ve lost track. Suffice it to say, it took a lot longer than we anticipated.

Even now, not everything that needs to get done next door is completed, but it’s mostly complete, which is something. We’re just relieved they are finally in their new space, and are working on transforming that house which sat vacant for so long into a home.

We’ve been helping in little ways to get them settled in, whether it’s helping to transport some items from this house to that one, trying to get that stubborn grass seed to grow or helping to figure out how to work the new washer and dryer. So, I wouldn’t say our work on the house is done exactly, but it is a huge relief to finally have the big move-in complete.

So, here’s to plans finally coming to fruition, and for remaining hopeful even when there seem to be obstacles around every corner.
