They have crocuses and daffodils for sale at our local farm store. I saw them the other day when I stopped in to pick up some ingredients for what the kids call girl dinner—lettuce and salad dressing and also some Brussels sprouts because they looked good. I should have taken a picture of the pretty flowers, but I forget about the impressive digital camera that I have on me at just about all times (aka my phone) thanks to the miracles of modern technology.
I’m not good at remembering to document everything I see, and I’m even worse about sharing daily activities and observations to friends and followers on social media. It’s hard to believe my mother and I are even related. (And Mom, since I know you are reading this, I don’t mean this as a dig. I genuinely enjoy seeing ALL of your photos!)
You’ll have to settle for this sloppy little painting of some crocuses (the internet tells me that croci is also an acceptable plural of crocus) that I painted the other day:

I painted these flowers based off a photo I took of some crocus blooms that were outside of the apartment I lived in at the time. Just now I went to try and find the photo so that I could share that with you, and prove that I don’t always forget to take pictures of flowers. I opened my photos file, typed crocus in the search and nothing came up, but I was sure that’s exactly what I had done the other day to find my old photo. I tried it again, just in case doing it a second time would change anything, but of course it didn’t. So, then I tried the word flower. That brought up 174 photos of flowers, none of which were of the crocuses and one of which was of a scrunchy. Then it occurred to me that the other day I had done my crocus search on my phone and not my desktop. It’s the same set of photos and the same app, but when I typed crocus on the phone the photo came up. Technology can be so baffling. Anyway here’s the photo:

For the record, I have not seen crocuses or any other early bloomers out in the wild just yet. We are enjoying some pleasant weather this week, but until just a few days ago it was bitter cold. Those daffodils and crocuses at the farm store were grown in their greenhouses, technology of a different sort.
After the cold, it’s always nice to have some glimpses of spring. I learned the other day that March 1 is considered meteorological spring. So happy almost meteorological spring to all who celebrate. While I know we’re likely to see a little bit more winter in the not too distant future, I hope you too get a chance to stop and smell the flowers, metaphorical and otherwise, even if you don’t remember to take a photo of them.

We have tiny little crocus (croci?) stems popping up after our 7″ snowfall last week!
That is excellent news!
The best photos, alas, are often the ones we have no camera for. I’d be fine with a lens implant connected to a digital chip. One blink and I could capture anything.
This could be very dangerous!
Now I don’t have to take a photo of flowers as I have yours to look at. Nothing makes me happier than to see the first blooms of spring. It’s rebirth of our weary winter lives. Thanks. Your words make me happy. Barb
Glad to bring a little joy and color to your day, Barb! Thank you for reading!
I have seen one crocus! The snowdrops are out now too, and the witch hazel is blooming.
Ooh, this is very good news!
