Well, I’ve finally returned from my holiday hiatus. That said, it does still sort of feel like the holidays around these parts since our various Christmas decorations are still up. As I write this I am staring at the silver tinsel tree that decorates my office.
I know it’s time to take the Christmas stuff down. It might even happen today. I have it written down on today’s to-do list, but today’s to-do list has been interrupted by various little hiccups.
This morning it was the water softener system that was being overly dramatic and displaying various error and dignostic codes that appeared nowhere in the manual. We checked twice. The old unplug it and plug it back in trick seemed to take care of that. We hope. We think. It wasn’t an instant fix though, so then we stood there for awhile in our utlity room as the machine did its song and dance communicating to us via its digital display in a language we don’t speak.
Then there were various decisions to be made about the house next door. Each time we cross an item off the list of things that need to be picked out and purchased we seem to add a new item to the list. Today’s was shower niches. Until a day ago we never knew that such an item existed. Plus we had to make a decision on the fly about how we wanted the basement stairs finished because somehow we neglected to figure this out ahead of time.
One of these days our future neighbors will be able to make the trek up from Florida and move into their new digs, but it’s certainly not going to be this week or next week or the week after.
I’m kind of taking the same sort of approach to the Christmas decorations. Maybe I will get around to taking them down today or tomorrow but maybe it won’t be until the weekend. It will get done eventually.
So, as I wade into the new year, I am cautiously optimistic if not exactly fired up with energy. Here’s hoping that good things lay in store for all of us in 2025.

I looked at my tree until a day ago and finally dragged in the box for ornaments and decor. I loaded it up so now I’m just staring at the naked little tree. I have a helped coming to do some chores and he’s akin to Superman. He will box up tree and do chores I can’t or won’t. Have a great new year. Hugs from afar. Blessings. B
Thank you! And right back at you! Well, your definitely ahead of me in the putting away Christmas, but I take heart knowing I’m not too far behind!
Yes, let’s wish for the best for all of us in 2025. Happy New Year to you and Ron!
Thank you! Happy New Year to you too!
Barbara — naked little tree. I love it. What I do with mine now is I never take it down. I just decorate it for whatever the season or holiday is. It’ll have valentines and Mardi gras and Easter etc on it. I love the lights and just makes the house feel alive. Best wishes to everyone for 2025
Smart lady!
Well, since Christmas is a recurring thing, if you wait long enough, folks will just assume you’re ahead of the curve…Like Walmart.
That’s one way to look at it! Ha ha!
I like the idea of a small tree ( very small) that can be changed tor each season. Meanwhile keep on pushing forward and enjoy the ride!😘
Aw, thanks, Mom!
I like the decorations and the fact that so many of my neighbors still have lights up. No rush to ending any festive mood we are able to sustain!
