I’m not entirely sure how it is December 20th already! I feel like December really flew by this year. The presents are all wrapped and the tree is up, so I suppose we’re ready for Christmas, but I don’t quite feel like it.
Ordinarily in this Christmas update, I would share a photo from our annual Christmas card, but I’m going to hold off and share that next week, so that the physical cards have a chance to make their way to all our friends and family, because we were a little late in sending them out. On top of that it seems like our mail is extra slow this year. I know the post office and the various shipping services are all swamped this time of year, but just from a few things I’ve sent and received I know the mail seems to be moving even slower than normal.
Anyway, I didn’t want to leave you without a photo full of holiday cheer, so here’s a picture of Dominick:

You might rightfully wonder why on earth we have a life-size plush donkey in our basement, and all I can say is that is a mystery for the ages. Also, just to be clear, Dominick does not belong to either me or Ron.
Anyway, sticking a Santa hat on the donkey has become one of our holiday traditions. It’s right up there with baking Christmas cookies (I made some pretty sad, pathetic cookies last night) and watching Christmas movies. I also like to read one of my favorite short stories “Miracle” by Connie Willis to help get me into the holiday spirit.
I hope that your holiday traditions bring you joy, and I wish you the very merriest of Christmases! Also I hope your Christmas cookies turn out WAY better than mine did!
